5 Ways To Be Kind to Yourself | Mental Health Awareness Week
It's Mental Health Awareness Week so we are taking the time to 'be kind' to ourselves. At the moment the world does feel pretty much upside down and there is only so much that is within our control, so we must remember to let go of what we cannot manage and embrace what we can. Now more than ever it is so important to be kind! Not only to others but too yourself. Here are some of the ways we are doing this:
Affirmations
Start your day by reminding yourself just how amazing you are, yes in case you forgot you are amazing! Remind yourself just how capable you are of achieving your dreams, believe in yourself and be kind. We find the best way to really let the words sink in, is to stand in front of a mirror look yourself directly in the eyes (we know this might feel a little awkward at first) and tell yourself something that makes you smile. It can be anything from I am a fearless woman who is capable of achieving all my goals to something as simple as I love me. Choose the words that work best for you, but make sure you choose positive words that make you feel all the love
Remember being you is a superpower
While you’ve been at home more, you might have found yourself scrolling on social media a lot more. And once you get lost in the social media world it’s way too easy to start comparing yourself to other people. If you catch yourself doing this … stop! It’s important to remember that people deal with times like these in different ways. You don’t have to be more like someone else, you’re uniquely you and that in itself is something worth celebrating. There’s only one you, no one does anything exactly like you. Being you is a superpower!
Celebrate your wins
Be your own biggest hype-woman and celebrate every single win! It doesn’t matter if it’s a big win or a small one, you better celebrate that win. Why? Because you deserve to feel celebrated, to recognize your achievements and feel good while doing it. Do we need to say any more?
Look after yourself
A lot of us have no problem looking after our loved ones, but when it comes to ourselves we seem to lose our motivation. Well, we’re here to tell you it’s time to remember how important you are and it’s time you started looking after yourself too. Eat foods that make you feel good, exercise, be mindful of the conversations you’re engaging in and make sure you’re getting enough beauty sleep. You owe it to yourself to make sure you’re looking after you!
Commit to 'me' time
It’s not always easy to commit to 'me' time, but now that most of us are spending a lot more time at home we’ve got to find the time. Even if it’s 15 minutes carved out for you to do something just for you, it makes a difference. Show yourself some love, make time to watch your latest obsession on Netflix, read a chapter of that book you’ve been meaning to read or if all you want to do is flake out and relax. Do it!! You will defiantly thank yourself later!
